Review your unit 3 personal assessment of your psychological, physical, and spiritual well-being. Reflect on these areas. How did you score yourself on a scale from 1 to 10 in unit 3? How do you score yourself now? Has the score changed? Why or why not?
In unit three, I rated my psychological well-being as a 9. I feel like this score is still accurate. I still try to learn new things and work on how I manage stress. In unit three, I rated my physical well-being as a 9. I think that this score is still accurate. I think about fitness everyday. Some days I don’t want to workout, but other days, it is all that I want to do. I want to be in shape for myself and my wife, but most importantly, I want to be able to play with my son. In unit three, I rated my spiritual well-being as a 7. I think that this area has changed. I would rate this area as an 8 now. I feel like I have a stronger spiritual connection now and I hope that it will continue to grow.
Review the goals and activities you set for yourself in each area. Have you made progress toward the goals? Explain.
I have made progress towards my goals. I have lost some weight and my wife and I are better about saving money. I do want to read the Bible more, but I am working on it.
Have you implemented the activities you chose for your well-being in each of the three areas? Explain.
Yes, I have implemented my chosen well-being activities. The most consistent of the activities is walking-meditation. Instead of journalling, I have been discussing my goals, my strengths, and my weaknesses with my wife. And last but not least, I am doing pretty well on my diet. We are cooking more at the house instead of going out to eat. Even “healthy” fast food might not be the best for you.
Summarize your personal experience throughout this course. Have you developed improved well-being? What has been rewarding? What has been difficult? How will this experience improve your ability to assist others?
I have really enjoyed this class. I never knew anything about integral health before. I feel like there is a whole new world of possibilities in the wellness field. I have enjoyed reading the Dacher book, and listening to the CD. I think that I will use the meditation practices after the class is over. I think that I will assist others by listening to them and trying to see the whole picture with their issues.
Thanks,
Aaron

I am glad to hear that you have made some improvements to your life. You are in the right direction for success. I agree that this class taught a new topic under the health and wellness subject. Integral health is very interesting and hopefully it will become more popular. Good luck in the future.
ReplyDeleteHi Aaron,
ReplyDeleteI am glad that we share the same experience with this course being a positive impact on our lives. I encourage you to continue to grow in your spirituality and I hope that it's explored just as passionately as the physical aspects of your life has been explored. I will be continuing my journey in growth and development towards my own psychospiritual existence in the hopes that it contunues to reward with me with the ability to be more compassionate, understanding, and empathic towards others. It's been an interesting course! I wish you well with your goals and I hope you have much success with all of your endeavors!
Good for you, Aaron! If I completely cut out eating out, I wouldn't just be healthier, my pockets would be full of cash!
ReplyDeleteYour post got me thinking more about that. I think I need to take an "eating out" strike to prove to myself that I can do it. I bet I'd feel healthier after the fact, too.
Good luck with everything!
Aaron, thanks for sharing. It seems that you have a great woman behind you, encouraging you to do better and better. I'm so glad that all your scores were stable and even became better. I found with our class, as a nurse, my practice as a nurse had to endure severe adjustments in my presentation to my patients. It was not only talking about nutrition, exercise, and medications. Just asking a patient in passing if they are "okay" and "not depressed" is not enough. Verifying the use of anti-depressants or anti-anxiety meds is not enough. Can they relax, can they calmly review all thoughts, negative or positive, to allow them the ability to be healthier and to heal quicker. So, as a nurse, I've had a lot to process into my changing patient presentation and assessments.
ReplyDeleteGood luck.
Respectfully, Steve Tardy
Aaron,
ReplyDeleteI am so glad to see that you have made some improvements in your life. It is great to have your wife there to lean on for support and encouragement. It is wonderful to have your spouse onboard with lifestyle changes especially with those centered around diet. It is great that you all are preparing and eating more of your meals at home. It greatly helps towards weight and nutrition goals when you are the one control of how your food is made instead of a restaurant. Those meals are usually high in fat, calories, and sodium; not to mention the portions are ridiculously large. I hope you will also be able to spend more time with the Bible. Good job on your current success and good luck with your health and wellness goals in the future.
Jennifer
HI! Aaron, I don't know if anyone is still reading their blogs, but I just thought I would see how some of my classmates were doing. I know a new unit has started with new challenges for us all but I wanted to encourage you in your pursuits and thank you for being apart of my blog experience. God bless your future days and continue to guide your happiness! Esther
